Why do the weeks of pregnancy differ from the fetal age?

You may notice that your doctor calculates your pregnancy from the date of your last menstrual period, which makes the "gestational age" about two weeks before the "actual age of the fetus." This is because ovulation usually occurs about two weeks after the start of menstruation, but because the exact moment of fertilization is difficult to pinpoint, science has adopted the date of your last menstrual period as the official and standard starting point.

Tips for your Journey

Regular Checkups

Schedule doctor visits and tests on time.

Nutrition & Hydration

Ensure your body gets enough fluids to support fetal growth.

Folic Acid

Consult your doctor about vitamins for neurological development.

Common Questions

Will I give birth exactly on my predict date?

Only about 5% of women give birth exactly on their due date. Most occur between weeks 37 and 42.

Why might my doctor change the due date?

First trimester ultrasound is more accurate. If there's a difference, ultrasound date is used.

CalQube's results are estimates. Pregnancy requires medical monitoring.
